Greater Boulder Youth Orchestras (GBYO)
As the leading youth orchestra of the greater Boulder area, GBYO offers multiple audition-only ensembles for students aged 6-21. Since 10th grade, I have participated in the most advanced ensemble, the Symphony, as well as in the Wind Ensemble, where I serve as the principal clarinetist and a leader to the younger students. I have played pieces such as Carmen by Bizet, An American in Paris by Gershwin, Romeo and Juliet by Tchaikovsky and Night on Bald Mountain by Mussorgsky.
Longmont Youth Symphony (LYS)
I participated in the Longmont Youth Symphony Orchestra, LYS's highest ensemble, under the direction of Keynes Chen during my 8th and 9th grade years. I served as both a clarinetist and the pianist, getting to play some very challenging pieces! The highlight of my time in LYS was playing the first piano part for Saint-Saëns's Carnival of the Animals. To this day, it is the hardest ensemble piece I have played on piano!
Summer Music Academy Piano Intensive
This highly selective piano camp hosted by the University of Colorado Boulder is comprised of talented pianists from across the world. I participated in both 2025 and 2026. Classes were taught by CU professors on topics such as music theory, music history, improving musicality, methods for calming performance nerves, and improving one’s individual technique. Each camp culminated in a public performance at CU’s Grusin Hall in which I performed both a solo piece and a duet with another camp student.
Suzuki Piano Method
I have been studying the Suzuki Method since I started playing piano at age five. Among other things, it emphasizes ear training, producing a natural and balanced sound, and accumulating a core repertoire.
